Pad Set

PAD SET

On the first Thursday of every month, starting Feb 5th at 8pm at the Bad Dog Theatre, Pad Set rips a page out of improv history with a shredding new cast. In the 1950’s, improv casts wrote down audience suggestions before an intermission and came back to perform a set based on those suggestions. With Pad Set we cut out the planning.

4 categories, multiple audience suggestions, endless possibilities...this is Pad Set.

Admission: $5
Followed by The Jam at 9:15pm

Thursday, July 2 @ 9:15pm

The Jam

Calling all improvisers!

The Jam is Toronto's completely open improvisation jam session! And when we say open, we mean open: the stage is open for anyone in the audience who wants to get up on stage and howl: actors, singers, acting students, professionals or anyone with a pulse is invited.

The Jam takes place each and every Thursday night at 9:15pm.

Admission: $5...or free with ticket from 8pm show.

Friday, July 3 @ 8pm

Weirdos

Save the cheerleader, save the show.

Time-traveling nerds. Self-healing teenagers. Flying siblings. It’s all part of Weirdos, the Bad Dog’s newest and weirdest improvised show.

In the tradition of Harry Patter and the Improviser’s Stone and Lord of the Things comes a show about good, evil and the everyday pressures of having a superpower.

Follow geeky Wiro, nimble Blair, and other lovable freaks as they attempt to stop the evil Timex and a devious plan determined by you, the audience.

The cast consists of some of Toronto’s finest improvisers, including Ashley Botting (Second City), Alastair Forbes (Theatresports), James Gangl (Dreadwood), Rob Hawke (Fast and Dirty), Tim Daugulis (Ghost Jail Theatre) and more. Directed by Ralph MacLeod (Hot Doctors In Love).

It’s just like everyone’s favourite television show about heroes, minus the convoluted plot and high production values.

Weirdos
Friday at 8 p.m.
$10 general admission/ $8 for students
Suitable for the whole family

Friday, July 3 @ 8:30pm

That Friday Show

That Friday Show consists of two 35-minute sets with five performers in each set. The first set is a high energy, short form set made up exclusively of classic improv games and open scenes. The second set is a fully improvised, directed one-act play or other longform set.

Admission: Pay What You Want As You Exit

Shows take place in Studio #2. Come early...there's limited seats.

Friday, July 3 @ 10pm

Macro Neato

In 2008, Ralph MacLeod put together a crack commando team of improvisers consisting of favorite Bad Dog Players, Advanced Students and Invited Alumni. Every week, this rotating cast of players hijacks a suggestion from the audience, captures their heart and holds their laughs hostage (for 90 minutes). Today, wanted by the government, they only come out on Fridays at 10 to further their crusade in a covert operation called Macro Neato.

Fridays at 10 p.m.
Tickets $5 for Bad Dog students and $10 regular admission.

Friday, July 3 @ 12am

The Late Late Horror Show

The Workshop

Directed by Bruce Hunter

Don't miss live improv performed by experienced pros and Toronto's favorite up-and-coming talent. The Workshop was a hugely successful directed improv show that Bruce Hunter ran late night Mondays in The Tim Sims Playhouse. It’s with great pleasure that the Bad Dog and Bruce bring back this popular format that mixes newbie and veteran improvisers and explores the nuances and possibilities of scenes through Bruce's expert and sometimes twisted direction.

Come watch improv at it's finest!
